We recently completed a full James Hardie shingle installation on a Dutch Colonial in Sewickley, one of the more complex exteriors we have taken on. The photographs below are that house.
Most siding companies will show you a manufacturer catalog. This is our own work, in Sewickley, photographed after completion.
The house is a gambrel-roofed Dutch Colonial, which is an awkward shape to side well. A gambrel has two roof pitches on each side, so the wall meets the roofline twice, and there are dormers and balconies breaking up the elevations. Every one of those junctions is a place where water gets in if the detailing is rushed.
It was finished in James Hardie shingle siding, and the detached garage was done to match so the property reads as one piece rather than a house and an outbuilding.
As a James Hardie Alliance Select Contractor we install to the standard that carries the 30-year non-prorated warranty on the product.
Front elevation, the gambrel end wall, the rear with its dormers, and the matching detached garage. Don photographed the property after completion.
